Parima Mountains

The Serra Parima (Portuguese ) also Sierra Parima (Spanish ) is a up to 1500 meters high and about 320 km long extending in a north-south direction mountain range of the Guyana Shield of South America.

The Serra Parima located in the western part of the Guyana Shield in the border area of Brazil and Venezuela. In the southwest, it continues through the Sierra de Curupira and in the north east, the Sierra de Pacaraima connects. The Serra Parima forms the watershed between the basins of the Amazon and Orinoco. On its western side is also the source of the Orinoco itself, which drains the entire west side. All the rivers on the east side drain into the Rio Branco, reached the water of the Rio Negro the Amzonas.

The Serra Parima is considered one of the least explored areas of South America and is one of the residential areas of the Yanomamo.
