Parliament of Singapore

The Parliament of Singapore is a unicameral parliament after the Westminster system with a maximum of 96 members.

Composition and election system

The parliament consists of 84 regularly every five years by elected members, up to three appointed Non- Constituency Members of Parliament ( NCMPs ) and up to nine nominated Nominated Members of Parliament ( NMPs ). The elected representatives are in a nine - and 14 multi -member constituencies ( five to six seats, one reserved for minorities) in a simple majority vote determined. The NCMPs when choosing the losing opposition candidates who are appointed by the President on two and a half years to ensure adequate representation of the opposition in Parliament.
