Parminder Nagra

Parminder " Mindi " Kaur Nagra ( born October 5, 1975 in Leicester, Leicestershire ) is a British actress of Indian descent.

Life and career

Parminder Nagras parents came to England in the 1960s. She is fluent in Punjabi.

Nagra became famous in 2002 in Bend It Like Beckham, in which they carried their main role of Jesminder " Jess " Bhamra Kaur - alongside Keira Knightley and Jonathan Rhys Meyers - played an Indian-born footballer. In 2003, she joined the main cast of the U.S. television series Emergency Room - at the emergency room, in which she portrayed the doctor Neela Rasgotra to the series in late 2009. In 2012 she played the technician Lucy Banerjee in the short-lived TV series Alcatraz.

In January 2009 Nagra married her partner, the photographer James Stenson, with whom she previously had been seven years together. Nagra and Stenson 2009 were parents of a son in May. In February 2012, she filed for divorce.
