Parnass Tower

Parnassus Tower is an observation tower in Plön / Schleswig -Holstein on the crest of the hill Parnassus ( a terminal moraine ).
There is a built on a stone base open steel lattice tower with an observation deck height of 20 m ( 85 m above sea level ).
The tower was erected in 1888 by Plon Beautification Association. After a renovation in 1985 it is now open as a lookout.
On the south side of the brick tower base are three boxes with
- An iron cross with the arms of Schleswig -Holstein and the annual numbers 1848 and 1849 ( in memory of the Schleswig- Holstein War)
- A relief portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm I.
- An Iron Cross with a crown, a "W" ( for William I ) and the year 1870 ( in memory of the Franco-German War )
Top of the tower can be Plön and the entire surrounding landscape overlooking the lakes.
