Parnassus plays

The Parnassus pieces (English Parnassus plays ) are the three anonymous 1598-1602 published plays The Pilgrimage to Parnassus, The First Part of the Return from Parnassus and The Second Part of the Return from Parnassus, which at St John 's College, Cambridge were performed at Christmas. The authors of the pieces are unknown, were suspected John Weever as the author of the first piece and the satirist Joseph Hall or the playwright John Day as the author of two other pieces. The pieces revolve around the attempt of various poets, to find a job, or to find the last two pieces of an image in the theater troupe The Chamberlain's Men.
