Parodia arnostiana

Parodia arnostiana is a species of the genus Parodia in the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet honors the arnostiana Czech cacti lovers Arnost Janousek.

Description

Parodia arnostiana grows individually and sprouts rarely. The green to dark green flattened spherical to flat shoots reach stature heights 4 to 6 inches in diameter and 4-8 cm. The apex impulse is sunk and unbedornt. The ribs 21 to 30 are arranged in a spiral. The circular areoles located on them are wooly white. The one to three yellowish brown to brownish red central spines have lengths of 0.5 to 2 inches and are often difficult to distinguish from the radial spines. The twelve to 16 curved, dull straw-yellow to brownish red spines are up to 7 mm long.

The sulfur yellow flowers reach a diameter of 7 to 7.5 cm and lengths of up to 6 inches. Your Perikarpell and the corolla tube are covered with white wool and brown hair. The scar is dark red. The spherical green fruits are 1.6 to 1.8 cm long and have diameters of 1.2 to 1.4 centimeter. The fruits contain cap -shaped black seeds, which are tuberculate.

Distribution, systematics and hazard

Parodia arnostiana is common in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The first description as Notocactus arnostianus by Kamil Lisal and Jiri Kolarik was published in 1986. Andreas Hofacker presented the Art 1998 in the genus Parodia. A synonym is nomenklatorisches Ritterocactus arnostianus ( Lisal & Kolarik ) Doweld (1999).

In the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN, the type is known as " Critically Endangered (CR ) ', ie threatened with extinction than out.
