Parody religion

As a religion, parody or satirical fun religions religions are referred to that present in a similar way religions by content and structure, but are usually designed not as belief but as a protest against the influence of religion on society, science and politics. Particularly frequently they occur in the United States.

In particular, the attempt to introduce the doctrine of creation, the so-called creationists intelligent design in schools in the state of Kansas sparked violent protests and led to the founding of the religion of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and the Intelligent Falling in 2005, and the Unintelligent Design.

In 2001, it was given as a result of an Internet campaign of Jediism, a really non- satirical syncretistic religion of 0.7 percent of respondents in the United Kingdom mostly rather ironic reasons than their religious affiliation, and so the Jediism was officially included in the statistics. Similar Views on the Internet also found in other countries, for example in New Zealand, instead.

A similar fate as the Jediism divides Det Missionerande Kopimistsamfundet to German: The Missionary Church of Kopimismus. It represents the Kopimismus actually a serious doctrine which explains the copying of information, especially as file sharing to the holy virtue.

For other groups is also not clear whether they are serious or parodic. So, for example, has the Iglesia Maradoniana strong parody character, but most trailers are actually football fans. The Discordianism is aware of that.

Other religions are not fun parody religions directly, but only individual aspects of the same or pseudo- religious fervor, which can be found in some places. So entstandt in the course of the editor was the Church of Emacs by Richard Stallman aka St. IGNUcius. In response, founded the followers of the competition editor Vi the Cult of vi. The Church of Fear provides a general, critical examination of the spread of fear by authoritarian organizations dar. Although the Darwin Fish parodied the ICHTHYS, however, shall not constitute an atheist symbol, but a sign of the commitment to the theory of evolution.

A parody religion must not occur as a religion, but can take other forms. Examples of this category are Betty Bowers in the field of cabaret, The Pious Helene from the field of literature, The ghost in the field of film and the spanking nun in the field of sculpture.

Many atheists such as Richard Dawkins who use religion parodies like the Flying Spaghetti Monster and the Invisible Pink Unicorn as a modern version of Russell's teapot to show that a religion proved by the faithful and need not be refuted by atheists.
