Paronychia

As (Par ) onychia, nail bed inflammation or circulation is called in medical terminology an inflammation of the nail wall. The causes various pathogens come into question.

Most commonly there is an infection with staphylococci. With the migration of the infection into the depths - but much less than on the flexor side - may result in a whitlow. The treatment consists in relieving the infection with pus ( incision / drainage).

A settlement of the nail wall with Candida may be the cause. The treatment is then carried out with antifungal agents.

A syphilitic chancre may also result in the image of a paronychia.
