Parotta

A parotta (or Barotta ) is a popular South Indian cuisine in pita bread. It is not to be confused with paratha, a flatbread, which is preferably baked in northern India.

The parotta is made from a dough of Maida ( a kind of cake flour ) and oil, the first one knocks into thin layers and for these then forms a round loaf. Parottas can however often ( sauce with chicken, mutton or beef ) are served with meat sauces like Saalna in vegetarian versions with Kuruma ( a vegetable paste) and onion rings. She likes to be deep-fried in a fried form, traditionally they are served often in a fresh leaf wrapped. They also go well with dishes with chicken or eggs.

The cakes are widely sold in restaurants or street stalls in the south Indian states of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, where they are very popular. They also like to enough weddings and religious festivals or similar events.
