Parque Avellaneda

Parque Avellaneda is a neighborhood in the southwest of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. He has 54 191 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of 5.2 km ², which means a population density of 10,421 inhabitants per km ². The district is part of the Comuna C9. Parque Avellaneda is bounded by the streets Av. Juan B. Alberdi, Av. Escalada, Av. Castañares, Lacarra, Av Tte. Grail. Luis J. Dellepiane, Portela, Av. Directorio and Mariano Acosta. The Stadtteiltag is celebrated every year on 3 March.

Description

Parque Avellaneda was named after former Argentine President Nicolás Avellaneda.

The history of the district begins when in 1755 the area now Parque Avellaneda of the Hermandad ( Brotherhood ) de la Santa Caridad de Nuestro Señor Jesus Cristo is transmitted, which built there a chapel. 1822 transferred the brotherhood their property to the " Sociedad de Beneficiencia " ( Welfare Association ), which in turn sold it in 1828 to Don Domingo Olivera. Don Olivera, one of the largest land owners in the area, where she taught an agricultural experimental station. On 7 March 1912, the city bought the property from the family Olivera and opened on March 28, 1914 a 30 -acre public park, at that time still under the name " Olivera ". On November 14 of the same year, the park received its present name " Parque Avellaneda ", the surrounding district was named after the park.
