Parres

Parres is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain. Bounded on the north of Marmari and Ribadesella, in the south of Amieva, in the west of Cangas de Onis and to the east of Piloña and Colunga. The main town is the district Arriondas live in about 50 % of the population.

Economy

  • The entire region is dominated by agriculture and forestry.
  • Medium-sized industry is mainly located in the nearby Arriondas.
  • The hospital (Francisco Grande Covián ) is the largest employer in the town.

Due to the local hospital is one of the few Parres Asturian communities that have experienced a population increase in recent years.

Festivals

  • Annually on 22 May, the feast of St. Rita in Parres.
  • Church anniversary on the 2nd weekend in July in the district of El Carmen.
