Parroy

Parroy is a commune of 162 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. Administratively it belongs to the district Luneville and Canton Arracourt. She is also a member of the Association of Local Authorities was founded in 1998 Pays du Sânon.

Geography

The municipality is located Parroy to 240 m above sea level, 16 kilometers north-east of Luneville, about halfway between Nancy and Sarrebourg.

The municipal area comprises a portion of Sânon Valley. Parallel to Sânon runs the Rhine- Marne Canal. The southern half of the 17.65 km ² municipal area is part of the approximately 50 -acre contiguous Forst of Parroy ( Forêt de Parroy ). To the south and north-east the terrain gradually rises; it reaches to the southern boundary of the municipality with 303 m above the sea on the watershed catchment area of Vezouze the highest point. .

To the west of the community is the Etang de Parroy, a nearly 30-acre storage pond which was created by a dam embankment during construction of the Rhine - Marne Canal. The pond is fed by three rivers and is excess water in the channel off. In precipitation poorer summers wide areas of the lake dry up. It is interesting to Weiger particularly for ornithologists on the west bank built a station in 1997. On the reedy banks of numerous breeding birds were observed, including Least Bittern, Marsh Harriers and Purple Heron.

History

The three lions in the arms go back to the Seigneurie of Parroy, extinct in the 16th century knights. The Lords of Parroy owned lands next to a series of locks, so among other things in Maxéville, Taintrux, Haudonville, Serres, Spitzemberg and Faucompierre.

During the First World War Parroy was almost completely destroyed.

On January 1, 1973, the neighboring municipalities Coincourt, Mouacourt and Xures were incorporated to Parroy. On January 1, 1987, the incorporations were reversed.

Still Agriculture plays a significant role in Parroy. There is also a pre-cast concrete components companies ( establishments Jean Bonhomme SA). Parroy is the site of a primary school.

Passing through the municipality the highway of Dombasle -sur -Meurthe on Lagarde towards Sarrebourg. Other roads connect the village with the communities Réchicourt -la -Petite, Coincourt and Bures.
