Pars Khodro

Pars Khodro (Persian: پارس خودرو ) is an automobile manufacturer with headquarters in Tehran, Iran. The company belongs since 1997 to the SAIPA Group.

Company History

The company was founded in 1956 as the first Iranian automotive manufacturer of Jafar Akhavan under the name Jeep Trading. Then finally in 1959 began the assembly of the Jeep vehicles at the factory to the district of the ninth kilometer along the Karaj Special Road, which is the production site of the company even today. First in CKD and SKD assembly built model was the Jeep Shahbaz, who was available as a soft top as well as a hard top. Evident are mounted in the vehicles to the Iran -applied on the rear of vehicles lettering Iran Jeep, later Sherkat Sahami Jeep. In 1963, then followed the Jeep Simorgh, which has now been completely produced in Tehran. This there was a pick-up, and Ambulance Station. In 1967 the company began with the two models Rambler Rambler Arya Shahin and the production of normal passenger cars. In the same year sparked a modernized version of the Jeep Wagoneers under the name Jeep Aho from the Simorgh. At the same time we renamed the company to also in Jeep Company. 1974, however, the General Motors plant was acquired and the name was changed to Iran General Motors. It was not until 15 years later returned to the Jeep Jeep Sahra back to back Iran. 2002, this was replaced by the second generation.

In the period under GM Chevrolet Iran was the first model, which was already replaced two years by the larger Chevrolet Nova. This was followed by the Buick Skylark and 1977, then finally the Cadillac Civil. In the same year there were also political disputes caused by the threat of Islamic Revolution. Then, in 1980 had to be adjusted, the installation of American models to political pressure. 7200 vehicles of the GM group had been assembled until then in Iran. Other CKD kits, however, superimposed by the economic boycott of Western nations in Canadian ports and were eventually used in the U.S. and Canada as spare parts.

After all supported vehicle parts were consumed in our own factory, you look worried more from India. In collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, now rolled the Tosan Commander Jeep off the line corresponding to the old CJ -5 Jeep. Another licensed product in 1983, then the Spanish Land Rover Santana 88, an offshoot of the Land Rover Series III. In the following year, however, we started production of the Nissan Patrol. The license was bought by state-owned National Industries Organization to Development and Renovation Organization of Iranian Industries, which finally gave the order to produce the model. Since 1979, this company is also the majority shareholder of the work. At the same time the company name was changed to Iran Car Making Company and then finally into the present name Khodro Pars in the following year. Shortly afterwards, now again reached the first deliveries of automotive parts from the GM group 's work. At the same time GM gave financial support, making a second production line was built. Newest Model for the Iranian market was the luxurious Chevrolet pickup. But this remained to this day also the last GM product from Iran. Only in 1987 was followed by even more designs for the Nissan Patrol with the popular station, the hardtop and the Ambulance. The Nissan PickUp added from 1988 the model range. The following year, sparked the Polerban Nissan Patrol from the obsolete generation.

When, in 1995, Renault was one of the main shareholders, was bought by SAIPA on the production line of Renault 5, which was built by SAIPA since 1980. New model names were so Renault Renault Sepand I and II Sepand The demand for the Sepand was so high that they could not be met because of logistical difficulties. Pars Khodro had to solve this problem, upgrade the paint shop and used for centralized revenue from slightly increased vehicle prices. By converting the company also came for a short time in financial difficulties. At the same time the Patrol got the optional Z24 engine in the small French and super sports car manufacturer Mega motor. In 2000, the company was eventually privatized. The Sepand series was ultimately replaced by the Kia Pride and its modernized notchback variant as SAIPA 141. In addition, the current generations of the Nissan Maxima, Nissan Pickup and Nissan Seranza now came on the market. Three years later followed based on the PickUp its SUV variant Nissan Roniz. In summer 2004, the reconstruction of the paint line was completed successfully. Since then, the annual production capacity of the plant is 185,000 units. As a new model then led Renault 2004 Renault Logan Tondar 90 a. With a further modification, the capacity could now even be increased to 200,000 units, as well as the Renault Mégane and the Nissan Murano was therefore included in the production. The Megane is available in versions 1600, 1600 E2 and 2000. Was followed in 2007 the Nissan Qashqai and 2009 as the newest model of the manufacturer of luxurious Nissan Teana VX.
