The Persante (Polish Parsęta [ parsɛnta ] ) is a 127 km long river in Eastern Pomerania, today, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. It rises at an altitude of 137 meters above sea level near Szczecinek ( Pommern ) and flows north. In the upper reaches of the river has a catchment area of 3145 km ² is a strong gradient, and later flows through meadows and peat bogs. The Persante opens in Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg) in the Baltic Sea.

The river's name is to be interpreted according to linguists Old Prussian opinion: " Perses " is a swampy spot in the woods or even a non- satisfactory yield point in the ice. The Persante is thus as " marsh river " translate. It is regarded as the western boundary of the once- Baltic linguistic area.
