Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council

The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council ( PPARC ) was a British organization for the management and promotion of research in elementary particle physics and astronomy, including the exploration of the solar system.

PPARC went in 1994 from the Science and Engineering Research Council produced. In addition to his promotional tasks it ran the UK Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh and the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes at the Roque- de-los Muchachos Observatory and the Joint Astronomy Centre JAC in Hawaii with telescopes at the Mauna Kea Observatory.

In April 2007, PPARC was merged with the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils for Science and Technology Facilities Council STFC.
