Particular Church
The term particular Church is ambiguous.
Within the Roman Catholic Church, there are several canonical meanings, the term is also used, outgoing, as in the declaration Dominus Iesus.
- Partikularkirche (CIC: particularis ecclesia ), a diocese or the equivalent unit
- Patriarchal Church ( CCEO: patriarchalis ecclesia ), a Uniate Church, headed by a Patriarch
- Rite Church (CIC: ecclesia ritualis [ sui iuris ], CCEO: ecclesia sui iuris ), a part of the church in its own right
In addition to this legal use of the term is also used in the ecumenical movement use.
- Particular Church ( ecumenism ), viewing the different Christian faiths and denominations as part of a postulated, not institutionally authored, ideal Catholic and Apostolic Church
