The Partizan Stadium (Serbian: Стадион Партизана / Stadium Partizana ), formerly known as Stadium of the Yugoslav People's Army or JNA Stadium is the football stadium of the traditional Belgrade football club Partizan Belgrade. It is equipped with 32 887 seats and a total capacity of up to 40,000 spectators the second largest football stadium in Serbia and one of the largest in Southeastern Europe.

The Partizan Stadium also bears the nickname Hram fudbala, which means on German football temple. In addition to the Red Star Stadium, it is the second venue of the home matches of the Serbian national football team in Belgrade.

History

The stadium was built in 1949 and originally offered 55,000 spectators. In 1998 the reconstruction of the stadium to adapt to the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations and comfort standards. The former socialist Yugoslavia and the leadership of President Tito used the stadium from the mid-50s until 1987, every May 25 as the venue for the parade on the Day of Youth.

Rebuilding

The stadium is partially dilapidated in its current condition. Already several times promised by the club's management, the expansion of the stadium complex, but not yet implemented. For the renovation and expansion estimated a Swiss architectural firm several million euros. In addition to the new stadium for 36,000 spectators are on a 12.5 acre site including a multiplex cinema, a 5-star hotel, an underground shopping center, a parking garage, nine tennis courts and 400 flats will be built.
