Party for Animals and Nature

The Partido pelos Animais e pela Natureza (PAN; Party for Animals and Nature) is a Portuguese small party. It occurs especially for the rights of animals and for nature conservation.

The party was founded on 22 May 2009 and registered on 13 January 2011 as a party. The first chairman was the philosopher and writer Paulo Borges. The PAN candidate for the first time in the 2011 general election and immediately reached 1.04% of the vote. In the regional elections in Madeira in the same year, the PAN reached 2.13% of the vote and was able to win a seat in the regional parliament.
