Parumer See

The Parumer Lake is located in Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania west of Güstrow in the municipality of Gülzow - Prüzen. With 207 hectares, it is one of the larger lakes in the district of Rostock. Its longitudinal extent is 3.5 km and the maximum width of about one kilometer. The body of water is known as a recreational area and ecologically interesting with the surrounding reed-beds and wetlands.

Geography

The Parumer lake is marked glacially and is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District. As flat Rinnensee it is subject to increasing siltation. The maximum depth is 2.8 meters.

Ecology

Water status

In the waters prevail polymictic conditions. The lake is polytroph, calcareous and has a very high pH ( > 9). Nutrient-rich inflows, high nutrient levels in the water and a large reservoir of nutrients in the Mudde lead to high biomass production that can not be broken down by the lake. Flora and Fauna

To the waters around there is a pronounced reed belts. Adjacent there are fens and marshes with local occurrences of boys herbs. In Bülower castle is a park with a book stock. In the spring bloom there Hohler corydalis, anemone and other early bloomers. In the area of ​​Lake Parumer 13 species of fish, amphibians and various bird species occur. Together with swamp lake and island lake, the region was taken as an IBA ( Important Bird Area ).

Tourism

The lake is a recreational area with appropriate uses. There are bungalow settlements in Bülower castle and Parum. In addition, several swimming holes are located around the lake. The water is very suitable for bathing.
