Parys, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Parys ( German Paaris ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to municipality Korsze ( Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński.

Geographical location

Parys is situated in north-eastern Poland, approximately 15 kilometers south of the state border of Poland to Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. Neighboring towns are in southwestern Korsze, in the west Glitajny ( Glittehnen ) and the Northeast Pomnik ( Pomnick ).

History

The exact date of the foundation of today's Parys is not known, it has been dated to around 1370. It was founded by Kulm law with an area of ​​64 hooves. Six of the hooves were allocated to the village mayor, four of the church. 1817 was the village of 38 residential buildings. For April 30, 1874 Köllmisch was from the rural communities Paaris and Seelig field and the agricultural estates nobleman Under Plehnen formed under Plehnen and Seelig field of District No. 11. In January 1945, the Red Army occupied the area and as a result of the Second World War, the area became part of Poland. 1973 Parys seat of a Schulz Office, to which belonged the town Pomnik, in Gmina Korsze. In 1937 there was a kindergarten, a four-year school as well as a library item.

Culture and sights

The church was built in 1370-1380. The western part was added in an expansion in 1400, the 30 meter high tower probably in the 15th century. 1599 was a fundamental renewal of the Church in which the east pediment was replaced by new forms. 1706 Gable was revised again and was given its present form. There is a porch and vestry on the north side of the church. The church houses a brass bell from 1605. The altar dates from 1703 and was designed by Isaac Riga from Königsberg.

The village is situated on the Parys Province Road 590 ( droga wojewódzka 590). This runs in a southwesterly direction after four kilometers through Korsze to then lead south to 15 kilometers through Reszel ( Rößel ) and finally to 40 kilometers in Biskupiec ( Bishop's Castle ) to flow into the country road 57 ( droga Krajowa 57). To the west, the 590 ends after about 12 kilometers in Barciany ( baleen ).

About a kilometer west of the town runs a single-track railway line with a breakpoint. The route will be no longer used for regular passenger services but only for tourism purposes. The nearest train station with regular rail traffic is in Korsze. From there, the PKP offers direct flights to Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ) and poses.

The geographically nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, about 90 kilometers north-west, is located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is located about 180 kilometers west of Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk.
