Pasadena Roof Orchestra

The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, founded in 1969 is a British big band whose musical focus is on the swing of the 1920s and 1930s.

The orchestra had his international breakthrough in 1974. On tour the Pasadena Roof Orchestra plays since the 1990s little more jazz clubs but rather on the prestigious stages of classical music houses or the prestigious jazz festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival. The music is traditionally accompanied by humorous interludes of various musicians.

The Pasadena Roof Orchestra played the music in the movie Comedian Harmonists (film ) by Joseph Vilsmaier. The last movie starring Marlene Dietrich, " Beautiful Gigolo, Poor Gigolo " was also published with the music of the orchestra. Artists from the pop music business, like Robbie Williams or Bryan Ferry intervened in support of their performances on the orchestra or its musicians at back.

According to John " Pazz " Parry Robin Merrill was the lead singer of the orchestra until he married in Berlin and was eliminated. From 1990, James Langton and Duncan Galloway sang alternately. Finally, the singers and dancers Duncan Galloway became musical director and lead singer.

Since its inception 40 recorded originated with over 300 titles, some of which are published worldwide. In 1993 the orchestra completed at a U.S. tour 50 performances from Los Angeles to New York. In 2001 was followed by another tour in the USA. Since 2007, the orchestra accompanies the Ash Wednesday the comedian at the Munich Philharmonic in Gasteig. The orchestra celebrated in 2009 with an extensive European tour its 40th anniversary.
