Pasighat

Pasighat (Hindi: पासीघाट Pasighat, Chinese巴 昔 卡, Pinyin Bāxíkǎ ) is a town in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It has 21,965 inhabitants and is the administrative seat of the district of East Siang.

The Technical School College of Horticulture and Forestry, the angliedert at Central Agricultural University, Imphal, was founded in 2001 in Pasighat. Through the National Highway 52 (NH 52) Pasighat is accessible from Assam.

The Yarlung Tsangpo River reached Pasinghat 220 km after it has reached Indian Territory. In the near Pasighat the Yarlung Tsangpo encounters two major tributaries, Dibang and Lohit, then the Brahmaputra river is called.

The People's Republic of China claims sovereignty over Pasighat, as well as a large part of Arunachal Pradesh. The disputed area is known in Chinese as Zàngnán (藏 南, " Southern Tibet "). According to the administrative division of China Pasighat belongs to the district Medog the Tibet Autonomous Region.
