The Pasila railway station (Finnish Pasilan Rautatieasema, swedish Böle Järnvägsstation ) is a railway station in the Finnish capital Helsinki. It is located in Pasila district, about three kilometers north of the center. He is the second most frequented railway station in the country ( according to the Helsinki Central Station ). All local and long-distance trains, which run to the central station, also keep in Pasila.

Pasila is located on the so-called main path ( päärata ) of Finland. From Pasila the route to the south leads to the location on a peninsula town center, where it ends at the main station. This section between Pasila and the main railway station is at 25.7 million passengers per year, the busiest railway line in Finland. Immediately north of the station Pasila ramify the tracks: on one hand it goes over the main track north towards Tampere, the other, on the so-called beach train ( rantarata ) west towards Turku.

The train route through Pasila was completed in 1862, the first passenger station but was only established in 1890. At that time Pasila was still in the country, far outside of Helsinki. The first station building was very small and modest. In 1923 it was replaced by a slightly larger wooden house which was moved from Vammeljoki on the Karelian Isthmus by Pasila. This building served until 1984 as a train station and was moved to the square Veturitori during construction for the current station is about 100 meters to the east. The contrast to the new station makes it clear how much the traffic has increased over the years, which is mainly due to the still ongoing, rapid population growth of the Helsinki region.

The current station building was completed in 1990. The lobby is located on a bridge that lies across the platforms ( Reiter station). Escalators and elevators lead down to the covered platforms. To the west of the passenger station until 2008 there was a yard. There are plans to build a new center for Pasila with up to 40 -storey high-rise buildings at this point. North is close to a loading dock for car trains and a relatively large operating station.
