Passaic is a city in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. Passaic part of the New York Metropolitan Area and lies about 20 km west of Manhattan. In the census of 2010 had a total population of 69 781 has been registered.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.3 km ², of which 8.1 km ² of land and 0.3 km ² ( 3.12% ) is water. The Passaic River flows through the city.

According to the census of 2000, there are 67,861 people, 19,458 households, and 14,457 families residing in the city. The population density is 8424.8 persons per km ². 35.43 % of the population are White, 13.83 % African American, 0.78 % Native American, 5.51 % Asian, 0.04 % Pacific Islander, 39.36 % from other races, and 5.04% mixed race. 62.46 % are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 19,458 households 42.0 % have children under 18 years. 43.7 % are married couples living together, 21.7% are single mothers, 25.7 % are non-families, 20.3% consist of all households and 8.4% in people older than 65, the average household size is 3, 46, the average family size is 3.93.

30.8 % of the population are under the age of 18, 12.5 % from 18 to 24, 31.6 % from 25 to 44, 16.9% between 45 and 64, 8.1% older than 65 is the average age 29 years. The ratio of women to men is 100:99,5, for people older than 18 years, the ratio 100:97,4.

The median household income is $ 33,594, and the median income for a family $ 34,935. Males have a median income of $ 24,568, women $ 21,352.
