Passerelle (Luxembourg)

The footbridge in the city of Luxembourg via the Pétrusse.

The viaduct, called passerelle or Old Bridge, was built in 1859-1861. The bridge crosses the valley of the Petruss at a height of 45 m and consists of 24 arches with spans of 8 and 15 m. The bridge piers are up to 30 m high, and the total length of the bridge is approximately 290 m. The slight curve bend in the middle is due to former tactical considerations of the former fortress builder, and in the siege case, the entire bridge should be bombarded with artillery.
