Pastýřská stěna

The Pastýřská stěna, also Ovčí stěna ( German: German Shepherd wall ) is a sandstone massif on the banks of the Elbe River in the city of Decin ( Decin ) in the Czech Republic.

History

The name is now attributed by linguists on the German name skewness wall. Today's Czech name is a translation of the German name Shepherd wall.

In the 19th century the shepherds wall had become a popular destination due to its striking views. It was therefore decided to build a wooden shelter hut which has been in 1905 in the form of a romantic castle replaced in massive construction and still stands today on the shepherd wall. From the terrace of the restaurant offers a scenic view of the Elbe valley and the opposing castle Decin ( Decin ).

After 1945, the Zoo Decin was applied on the plateau. Inside the rock taking a lift from the Elbstraße was built up on the plateau, which is currently out of service, however, (2006).

Through the rock a tunnel leads to the railway line Dresden- Decin.

For walkers leads from the train station Decin a red marked trail to the summit and on to the high snow mountain.
