Pat Leahy (ice hockey)

Patrick Leahy ( born June 9, 1979 in Duxbury, Massachusetts) is an American professional ice hockey player who is under contract with EHC Linz in the Austrian Hockey League since 2007.

Career

Patrick Leahy began his career as a hockey player in the team of Miami University, where he was active from 1997 to 2001. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the fifth round as the 122nd overall player of the New York Rangers, for whom he never played, however. Instead, the attacker ran in the 2001/ 02 season for the Trenton Titans in the East Coast Hockey League and the Hershey Bears, Portland Pirates and Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on. With the Tigers, he failed only in the playoff final for the Calder Cup to the Chicago Wolves. After spending the 2002/03 season with the Providence Bruins in the AHL, he received a contract with their partners Boston Bruins. For the team from Massachusetts, he played in the following season six games in the National Hockey League, but was again mainly for Providence in the AHL on the ice.

The lockout in the NHL during the 2004/ 05 season bridged Leahy at the Providence Bruins. In the following season, he scored four goals and were as many templates for Boston in the NHL. Nevertheless, he left to connect the franchise and moved as a free agent to Boston League rival Nashville Predators. In these, however, he was also unable to prevail, so that he stood in the 2006/07 season only once in the NHL squad Nashville. He spent the entire rest of the season in the AHL farm team Milwaukee Admirals. Therefore, the Americans went in the summer of 2007 to Europe, where he was bound by the EHC Linz of the Austrian Hockey League, for whom he has performed since then.
