Pata, Galanta District

Pata (Hungarian Vágpatta - to 1907 Patta ) is a municipality in Okres Galánta within the Trnavský kraj in Slovakia.

The place is located in the Danubian Lowland in the vast Považie on the river Jarčie at an altitude of 139 m nm Pata is located about halfway between Trnava (26 km to the west ) and Nitra (25 km to the east )

The village was first mentioned in 1156 as PTA and was a royal possession. Since the 15th century it belonged to the estate of Schintau. The place was marked mostly agricultural, next to some residents involved in viticulture and weaving. During the revolution of 1848/49 there was in place a battle between the Imperial Army and Hungarian Honvéden.

1923 here Hungarian table tennis player Ferenc Sido was born.
