Scales neck dove ( Patagioenas fasciata )

The American field pigeons ( Patagioenas ) are a new, of the genus Columba ( dove field ) separated pigeon species. Like these, they are within the order of pigeons birds to the subfamily of Columbinae.

Genetic analysis of Kevin P. Johnson et al. suggests the New World species of the genus Columba, which behave like a sister group to Streptoplia ( turtledoves ) to lead as a separate genus under the name Patagioenas.

All species live in the Americas or the Caribbean islands.
