Patericon

A Paterikon (Greek: πατερικόν; pl: Godfather Rika. ) Is the short form for πατεριχόν βιβλίον ( "Book of the Father" ) and a genre of Byzantine religious literature, are summarized in the sayings of the saints, martyrs and church leaders and legends about these.

Some of the first of these compilations are the Apophtegmata the Holy Elders ( Αποφθέγματα των άγίων γερόντων, also known as the Alphabetical Paterikon ); the Apophtegmata Patrum; the sayings of the Desert Fathers; the Egyptian Paterikon (also: Historia Monachorum in Egypto or history of monks in Egypt ) and the Λαυσαϊχόν ( Historia Lausiaca ) Palladio from the 4th century.
