Path of Visionaries
The Path of Visionaries is an art project at the southern end of the Friedrichstrasse in Berlin's Kreuzberg district, near the Mehringplatz (formerly Belle- Alliance-Platz ). It consists of - embedded in rows of three in the floor - panels with statements of eminent persons of the EU Member States ( with the exception of Croatia). With the Path of Visionaries in the world, all 193 member states of the United Nations received a blackboard.
History of development
Path of Visionaries - EU
The project is an initiative of the Art World eV Berlin, led by the artist Bonger Voges and the lawyer Kristijana Penava under the patronage of Viviane Reding and Jean -Claude Juncker. The construction cost of about 200,000 euros deposited on private sponsors and the messages involved. The proposals were submitted by the respective embassies and ministries, and rated by a 40 - member jury, which was composed of Berlin politicians and celebrities. The selection criteria of the quotes was in addition to a generally comprehensible statement the teaching of tolerance and international understanding. The project is to be a sign of the unity and diversity of the European Union and contribute to enhance the area at the southern end of the Berlin Friedrichstrasse. The official inauguration of the EU - part was held on 7 May 2006.

Represented are all EU member countries on 30 June 2013. On each of the approximately 1.5 m² large plates of saying a great personality, a poet or writer of the country is included in German, English and in their native language. Only Belgium is with a quote from Julius Caesar represented (see below). Some of the sayings are more abstract, others more pictorially. From 2006 to 2008 was held in conjunction with the installation of the annual European Festival Berlin in the southern Friedrichstraße instead.
Today's state
From July 2011 to July 2012 operated the BVG a construction site at the southern end of Friedrichstrasse. This time took the club operators to test new prototypes for the installation. You can see since August 2011 two prototypes and table examples of some EU states and plaques as a temporary installation that indicate the current status and the exhibition " Place of Ideas." After completion of construction of the path of the visionaries is - EU completely renewed. The photo shows a prototype of the new installation in the pedestrian area of Friedrichstrasse (Summer 2011).
Path of Visionaries in the world
Since April 2010, the path of the visionaries of the world is under the patronage of Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO. On 23 June 2011, the Director-General, UNESCO panel unveiled in person. In autumn 2011, the new jury Path of Visionaries in the world has reviewed the submitted quotes from the messages of the UN member states.
After the construction work of the BVG was started in autumn 2012 with the construction of the path of the visionaries of the world. Planned to continue the path of the visionaries is - EU along the sidewalks of Friedrichstrasse.
Exhibition
Information about the history of Friedrichstrasse and the southern Friedrichstadt, planning, project history, around the path of the visionaries of the world as well as all the texts of the EU Member States are in the exhibition " Place of Ideas" in the Friedrichstrasse 4 ( pedestrian area of the Hallesches Metro Station gate ) are shown.
