Patiens

Patientive († 4th century in Metz) was an early bishop of Metz and a saint.

Legend has it that patientive was a Greek and student of John the Evangelist. This was revealed in a miraculous way that the bishopric of Metz became vacant by the death of Felix, and he had then patientive sent to Gaul to succeed. This John had given him one of his teeth. In Metz arrived patientive 've built a chapel there and let the tooth of John venerate as a relic.

In fact, the name " undergoer " Roman, not Greek in origin and also a direct relationship to John is chronologically impossible, since the term of office of the undergoer is dated to the 4th century, which also the year of death 152, which takes the legend, is unhistorical.

Patientive is venerated as a saint. His feast day is January 8.
