Patos Island (Venezuela)

Isla de Patos (English Duck Island ) is a small uninhabited island in the Caribbean Sea, about 550 km east of Caracas, capital of Venezuela, located. By an agreement dated 26 February 1942, she is one of the Dependencias Federales of Venezuela. Previously, she was part of the British colony of Trinidad and Tobago.

Geography

Isla de Patos is located in the Gulf of Paria, just eight kilometers east of the coast of the Venezuelan state of Sucre, and 20 km west of the north-western tip of Trinidad and 10.3 km west-southwest of the island Chacachacare, the nearest Trinidadian island ( or immediately upstream of the Bolo Rocks with Diamond Rock ). The island is about 1180 m long, 620 m wide and has a land area of 0.25 km ². It reaches a height of about 100 meters above the sea.
