Patriarch Callinicus I of Constantinople

Kallinikos I ( † 705 in Rome) was Patriarch of Constantinople from 693 to 705 Opel He is a saint of the Orthodox Church.

Before he became patriarch, he was a priest at the Church of the Holy Mother of God of Blachernae, one of the most important churches in Constantinople Opel.

As patriarch he came with Emperor Justinian II together as this was a church to tear down to build a palace. He supported Emperor Leontius, the 695 Justinian deposed and exiled. When Justinian ten years later Constantine Opel conquered again, he revenged himself, though he had sworn an oath to do to anyone. He was the patriarch dazzle and walled up alive in Rome. After forty days, the wall collapsed. Kallinikos was still alive, but died a few days later.

Pope John VI. let Kallinikos buried in the church of the Apostles at Rome, because of a dream in which his Apostles Peter and Paul had appeared and had commanded him.

The Orthodox commemoration of Kallinikos is on August 23.
