Patricia A. McKillip

Patricia Anne McKillip (* February 29, 1948 in Salem, Oregon, United States) is an American fantasy and science fiction author.

Life

Her mother and her older sister, Carol, who they also dedicated the first part of the earth spells trilogy, still live in Coquille, a small town near the coast of Oregon.

Part of her childhood was spent in England and Germany, as her father, an Air Force officer, was stationed there from 1958 until 1962.

At 14, she began to write, but it was only in 1973, when she received her master's degree in English language and literature at San Jose University, she published her first work, " House on Parchment Street" and "The Throne of Erril of Sherril ".

Supposedly she has since worked as a concert pianist before they finally focused on the writing. Their close relationship with music is always clear in their books.

She currently lives with her husband, David Lunde, a poet, in Roxbury, a small town in the Catskill Mountains, New York.

In 1975 she won the World Fantasy Award for " The Forgotten Animals of Eld ", 1980 Locus Award for " harper in the Wind" and 1985 the Balrog Award for short fiction category for " A Troll and Two Roses ". In 1995 the Mythopoeic Award for Adult Literature for " Something Rich and Strange" and again in 2003 the World Fantasy Award for " shadow over Ombria " which was awarded the 2006 French prize Prix Imaginales as foreign-language novel.
