Patrícia Melo

Patrícia Melo ( born October 2, 1962 in Assis ( São Paulo) ); is a Brazilian writer, primarily of crime novels.

Life

Melo published in 1994 her first crime novel. In 2001, she was recognized for her fourth novel Inferno with the most important Brazilian literary award, the Premio de Literatura Jabuti, 1998 with the German Thriller Prize for O Matador. Since 1998, she also writes screenplays for film and television. Her novels, several of which have been translated into German, are socially critical stories about crime and violence in urban Brazil

Since 2012, Patrícia Melo is married to conductor John Neschling.
