Patricia Neal

Patricia Neal, Patsy Louise Neal bourgeois ( born January 20, 1926 in Packard, Kentucky; † August 8, 2010 in Edgartown, Massachusetts ) was an American actress.

Life

Patricia Neal began her career on Broadway in 1947 and received the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her film debut was in 1949 on the side of Ronald Reagan in John Loves Mary. In 1957 she starred in A Face in the Crowd on the side of Walter Matthau and Lee Remick.

1964 Neal won the Academy Award for Best Actress in Hud. In 1969 she was nominated for the film roses for the lady again for an Oscar.

On July 2, 1953 Neal married the writer Roald Dahl and had with him five children; her son Theo was seriously injured as a baby in a car accident, her first-born Olivia died at the age of 7 years from measles. They were divorced on 17 November 1983. During her pregnancy in 1965, Neal suffered three brain hemorrhages and was nearly three weeks in a coma; her husband had immediately alerted a neurosurgeon. 1981 this period of her life was filmed as The Patricia Neal Story with Glenda Jackson. In 1988 her autobiography As I Am.

Patricia Neal died on 8 August 2010 at the age of 84 at her home in Edgartown from lung cancer.
