Patrick Cowley

Patrick Joseph Cowley (born 19 October 1950 Buffalo in the State of New York, † November 12, 1982 in San Francisco, California, United States) was a disco and Hi- NRG dance music composer and musician. In the same breath as Giorgio Moroder Cowley is celebrated as one of the pioneers of electronic dance music. Cowley went in 1971 to San Francisco, where he studied intensively the synthesizer. He worked as a lighting technician at the City disco. There he met Sylvester, who appeared in the disco. They began a collaboration, and Cowley's synthesizer - aggressive style was quickly connected to Sylvester's songs. Your fanbase in the club dance scene responded enthusiastically to hits like " You Make Me Feel ( Mighty Real) ", " Dance ( Disco Heat ) " and their most successful in the U.S. single "Do You Wanna Funk ".

Under his own name Cowley had the hits " Menergy " (1981), a frank homage to the gay club scene, and " Megatron Man". He also wrote and produced the dance single " Right on Target " for the singer Paul Parker, the No. 1 on the Hot Dance Music / Club Play Charts. Cowley also produced a more than 15 -minute remix of Donna Summer's " I Feel Love", which is a collector's item today. Frank Loverde, whom he also met in the City, he dedicated the song Die Hard Lover, this was covered by Linda Imperial with the group Loverde. The in nightclubs known version ( faster Cha -Cha -Cha rhythm, yellow cover ) was then published under Patrick Cowley and Loverde (1982).

His latest album " Mind Warp " wrote Cowley at a time in which his HIV infection had already expanded to a full clinical picture; the songs on the album reflect his increasing distance from the conventional reality, as the disease progressed. A recorded with Indoor Life vocalist Jorge Socarras album was released only in 2009. Bands like the Pet Shop Boys and New Order call Cowley's style as a major influence on their music. Patrick Cowley died in November 1982 from the effects of AIDS.
