Patrick Gretsch

Patrick Gretsch ( born April 7, 1987 in Erfurt ) is a German racing cyclist. Resident Gretsch is currently in Kreuzlingen in Switzerland.

Career

Gretsch is active on rail and road. He drove his first victory at the train Junior World Championships 2004 in Los Angeles. Together with Sascha Damrow, Stefan Schäfer and Matthias Hahn, he became vice world champion in the team and third in the individual pursuit.

2004 Gretsch also showed strong performance in the time trial: he was not only German national champion in the junior time trial, but was also able to win the time trial world championship at the Junior Road World Cycling Championships. He was four-time German Junior Champion ( rail and road ) in 2005 and finished at the Junior World Championships twice in fourth place in the individual and team pursuit.

From 2006 to 2009 Gretsch drove team for the German Continental Team Thüringer Energie. In 2008 he won the U23 edition of the International Thuringen Tour including the time trial itself. It followed the Vizeweltmeistertiel time trial U23 at the 2008 World Cycling Championships. A year later he was German U-23 time trial champion and reached the Time Trial U23 at the 2009 World Cycling Championships in Mendrioso the bronze medal.

In 2010 he joined the UCI ProTeam HTC - Columbia. In his first season for this American team Gretsch took second place in the German time trial championships in Sangerhausen. Also, the time trial specialist reached second place in the time trial of the Tour of Austria, a fifth place in the time trial of the Vuelta a Murcia and a tenth place finish at the Critérium du Dauphiné time trial. 2011 Gretsch started with the Mallorca Challenge, the season and played with the Giro d' Italia his first three-week tour of the country.

Since the dissolution of his team HTC -Highroad at the end of 2011 Gretsch riding for the team Team Argos - Shimano. In 2012, he contested his first Tour de France.
