Patrick Janssens

Patrick Janssens ( born September 19, 1956 in Antwerp) is a Belgian politician of the Flemish Socialist Party Sp.A.

Curriculum vitae

Patrick Janssens studied political and social sciences, as well as applied economics at Sint - Ignatius School (now part of the University of Antwerp). In addition, he completed a statistical study at the London School of Economics.

From 1985 to 1989 Patrick Janssens was director of market analysis at Dimarso. He then worked for a long time in the advertising industry.

In October 1999, he was (later renamed sp.a ) as President of the SP selected. His experience in the advertising industry helped him quickly to success in politics. Already in 2000 he became a member of the municipal council of Antwerp.

On 10 July 2003 he was mayor of the city of Antwerp. In the municipal elections of 2006, he was confirmed in his office. Janssens and his party arrived in the coalition with the CD & V in the municipal elections in October 2012 just 28.6%. Winner of the elections was the popular party of Bart De Wever NVA, which reached 37.7 %.
