Patrick Konchellah

Patrick Konchellah ( born April 20, 1968 in Kilgoris, † November 29, 2009 in Bomet ) was a Kenyan middle distance runner.

He was three times Kenyan champion in the 800 -meter run ( 1994, 1997, 2000). Over this distance, he celebrated the major international success of his career with victory at the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria. In addition, he finished at the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 to fourth place in the 800 -meter run.

Of his career, but he always stood in the shadow of his older brother Billy Konchellah, the world champion in the 800 -meter run in 1987 and 1991.

On the morning of November 29, 2009 Patrick Konchellah died in a hospital in Bomet from gastric carcinoma. He is survived by a son, Felix Martine Konchellah which is active as a middle-distance runner. His nephew Youssef Saad Kamel ( Gregory Konchellah ) in 2009, starting for Bahrain, the 1500m world champion.
