Patrick Scales

Patrick Scales ( born March 24, 1965 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen ) is a British- German jazz bassist and lecturer.

Life and work

At the age of 12 had Scales lessons in classical guitar at Jeffrey Ashton. Even at 14, he played regularly as a bass player in club of the American army in Garmisch -Partenkirchen and surroundings. Since 1989 he lives in Munich.

Since 1994 he is a permanent member of Klaus Doldinger's Passport. From 1996 to 1999 he was a lecturer in e- bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim. Between 1999 and 2008 he was a teacher for electric bass at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. Since 2008 he teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.

Together with his brother Martin Scales (guitar), he released three CDs under his own name. He is co -author of the textbook: "A Rhythmic Concept for Funk / Fusion Bass" ( Advance Music ).

In Wettersteingebirge he performed first ascents of various routes.
