Patrick Traverse

Patrick Traverse ( born March 14, 1974 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played for the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga on the position of the defender.

Career

Traverse began his junior career for the 1991/92 season with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey in League. In his rookie season the offensive strong defenders get 14 points in 59 games, after which he was selected by the young franchise of the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 in the third round to 50th place. After him in the following year that was marked by a change in the QMJHL to the Saint -Jean Lynx, a total of 39 points were managed in 68 games, the Senators took him after leaving the Lynx out of the playoffs for two games in their AHL farm team, the New Haven Senators. A similar path as the following season, in which he could improve his points production again.

Jump to year 1994/95 changed Traverse then finally turned professional and played for the Prince Edward Iceland Senators in the AHL. In this the team of the Prince Edward Island he came in the course of 1995/96 season to five appearances in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators in which he succeeded, however, no point scorer. It took two more years he had spent at the Grand Rapids Griffins, Worcester Ice Cats and Hershey Bears, before he could fight for a place at the 1998/99 season in the squad of the Ottawa Senators. In his NHL rookie season was followed by a solid year in which the defender with 23 points could draw attention to themselves in 66 games. His achievements led after leaving the Senators from the playoffs to the fact that he was appointed to the Executive of the Canadian national team for the World Cup in Russia. He finished after defeats in the semifinals and in the match for third place a fourth with the team and remained without a medal. Despite the good performance in the preseason Traverse was issued in June 2000 by the Senators to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, who transferred him to only five months to the Boston Bruins. Also there was the Canadians only three months, as the Bruins sent him to the Montreal Canadiens in his hometown. Although Traverse for three different franchises contested games this season, he came up with 71 games and 14 points. The defender was the following three seasons in the organization of the Canadiens. After he was able to complete in the 2001/ 02 season, only 25 games due to long-term injuries to knee and head, so he was in the 2002 /03 an integral part of the defense of the NHL teams. In the 2003 /04 season he came, however, only with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the AHL for use. Unhappy with the situation, he joined in the summer of 2004 as a free agent in the organization of the Dallas Stars, where a conditional by the NHL lockout, another season in the AHL, this time with the Houston Aeros followed. The following year, Traverse was well in the AHL, and came to only one use for the Dallas Stars in the season 2005/06. He moved back to the Montreal Canadiens, the abschoben him back into farm team, after which he was transferred in the course of the year to match the Worcester Sharks.

Overall, the French-Canadians remained until the end of the game in 2008/09 in Worcester, pointing in his final year unsuspected qualities in the offensive. After his expiring contract was not renewed, pledged him in July 2009, the DEG Metro Stars of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the season 2009/10. From the 2010/11 season played at Traverse the Hamburg Freezers.
