Patrick V. McNamara

Patrick Vincent McNamara ( born October 4, 1894 in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, † April 30, 1966 in Bethesda, Maryland ) was an American politician (Democratic Party), who represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. Senate.

After completing his education in the public schools of Weymouth and Quincy Patrick McNamara moved in 1921 to Detroit, where on trade union and civic area, he was active in addition to his professional activity in the construction industry. From 1942 to 1945 he was standing in front of the local branch of the previously launched by the Federal Government 's Office of Price Administration. Between 1946 and 1954 he was Vice President of Stanley Carter Company. The City Council of Detroit was McNamara 1946-1947 on, the education committee of the city then from 1949.

1954 Finally, he was elected to the Senate of the United States, where he held his position from 3 January 1955. In 1960 he was elected for another six years, but before the end of his second term, died Patrick McNamara on 30 April 1966 at the Bethesda Naval Hospital. During his time in the Senate, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Public Works.

The Patrick V. McNamara Federal Building, an office tower in Detroit, was named after him.
