Patrick Williams (composer)

Patrick Moody Williams ( born April 23, 1939 in Bonne Terre, Missouri) is an American composer.

Life

Patrick Moody Williams grew up in Connecticut. Already during his studies of history at Duke University, he led from 1959 to 1961, the student jazz band at Duke Ambassadors. Then studied composition and Dirigation at Columbia University. Before he moved to Los Angeles in order to accelerate his career in film in 1968, he was already a busy composer who wrote several jazz albums and arranged.

Led for Frank Sinatra and he arranged his albums Duets. For the clarinetist Eddie Daniels Williams wrote A Concerto in Swing and saxophonist Tom Scott for he wrote romances for the Jazz Soloist and Orchestra. His play Theme For Earth Day was recorded by John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra.

Williams also worked as a music teacher and headed for example over five years, the Henry Mancini Institute and was at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Utah each guest professor. He also received both the Colorado and from the Duke one honorary doctorate.
