Patrik Eliáš

Patrik Eliáš ( born April 13, 1976 in Třebíč, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who plays for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League since 1995.

Career

Patrik Eliáš began his career with Poldi Kladno and was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in the second round at position 51 of the New Jersey Devils. However, he played until 1995 for his hometown club in the first Czech Extraliga before 1995 to the Albany River Rats, the farm team of the New Jersey Devils of the AHL, changed. That same year, Elias denied his first NHL game for the Devils. In the 2000 /01 season he collected 96 points, the most in the team and was the player with the best plus / minus statistic in the league.

With New Jersey, he won the Stanley Cup twice, in 2000 and 2003.

In the time of the NHL lockout in the 2004/05 season, he completed 28 main round matches for the HC Orli Znojemští and 17 main round games for the Russian team Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Prior to the 2006/07 season, he was named team captain of the Devils, gave this post but from in the season 2007 /08 Jamie Langenbrunner. In 2009, he won the highest award in the Czech ice hockey, the Zlata Hokejka.

Internationally

Patrik Eliáš completed three games for the Czech national team at the IIHF World Men's Championship in 1998, scoring one goal.

2002 Eliáš played again for choosing the Czechs at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. In four games, he scored a goal each and Assist addition Eliáš took part in the World Cup of Hockey, scoring three goals in five games and two assists.
