Patriotic Movement for National Rebirth

The Patriotic Front for National Rebirth (Polish: Ruch Patriotyczny Odrodzenia Narodowego, abbreviation PRON ) was a Polish umbrella organization of the communist Polish United Workers' Party during the martial law, which was imposed in December 1981.

PRON, instead of become meaningless now Popular Front Front Jedności Narodu founded on 17 December 1982.

The following " patriotic" parties and organizations entered the Patriotic Front of National Rebirth:

  • Polish United Workers' Party
  • Polish United Peasant Party
  • Democratic Party
  • Catholic PAX Association
  • Christian Social Union
  • Polish Catholic Social Union.

The pro-regime Catholic writer Jan Dobraczynski (PAX ) was elected as Chairman. Later a number of other organizations joined in the front, including the Federation of Trade Unions Ogólnopolskie Porozumienie Związków Zawodowych. In 1989, the front was dissolved as a result of changes in Poland and in Eastern Europe.
