Patrocínio is a city in the west of the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

The city with 80.000 inhabitants is located on the link from Uberlândia to Patos de Minas at the BR 365 in the north of Triângulo Mineiro, an agriculturally and industrially well-developed region of the country. The distance to the economic center of Uberlândia in the west is about 150 km, Patos de Minas, the corn capital of Brazil is located about 75 km northeast.

On the northern edge of the town there is an airport in the East a crater 16 km in diameter, allow the presumption of a Meteroiteneinschlags.

The town, whose literal translation is patronage, was founded in 1773 by a farm of Bandeirantes on the Rio Dourados. 1793 came the first settlers, 1800, the first chapel. 1819 there were 40 mud huts here.
