Patrol system

A clan is the smallest group in Scouting. She usually between five and ten members aged 10 to 16 years. There are pure boy and girl families or mixed families, this is handled differently in the Boy Scouts frets. One such group formation is due to the conviction of Robert Baden - Powell, that in small groups of individuals to better advantage and less goes down. In Scouting, this is called pedagogy of the small group.

Several clans form a tribe together usually, sometimes a guild, a Hag, a settlement or a squad. The handling is different in the frets.

Each clan has one or two so-called clan leader, from a Pfadfinderbund trained group leader. Prepare the clan hours and go with the clan in stock and rides. The clan leaders are mostly " primus inter pares" within the family, and (depending on the Scout Association ) over 14 years old.

Alternatively, some Scout associations corresponding groups name in German-speaking also just group, but also day-care centers, patrols, teams, patrols ( PPÖ ) or - in Switzerland - pennon. The term corresponds to the designation patrols patrols by Robert Baden -Powell in the founding of the Scout Movement in the UK.
