Patsch

Dub is a municipality with 965 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Innsbruck Land, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck.

Geography

Patsch is located on the central mountain terrace at the entrance of the Wipptal, at the foot of Patscherkofel south of Innsbruck. The municipal area includes besides the lying on the old Salt Road Kirchdorf the districts Kehr, Rinner yards, Sillwerk, Ruggschrein, Ahren and train station. The highest point of the municipality is with 2246 m of Patscherkofel. In Ruggschrein was formerly a customs post of the important of Hall in Tyrol Matrei leading salt road.

The nature reserve rose garden is well served by several north- south- oriented walking and dirt roads along the terrace steps, emanating from Patsch or from Grünwalder yard. The reserve is one of the recreational areas in the catchment area of Innsbruck. A landmark in this field is the (albeit already to the municipality of Innsbruck belonging ) archaeological site on Goldbichl.

History

Dub is the oldest village on the southern mountains, many place names indicate a pre-Roman settlement. Patsch was mentioned for the first time in 1200 as a jam and Pats documented. In the early Middle Ages it was the center of a market association and a mother parish. In 1256 it was the Wilten incorporated.

The construction of the Brenner railway from 1864 to 1867 brought the community by reason detaching a wealth. The 1903 built under Josef Riehl power plant Upper Sill, located on splasher and Schönberger area, was the largest power plant in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

Another important building is the spanning below the bridge Silltal Europe.

The last mayor elections took place simultaneously with the local elections on March 14, 2010. Andreas Danler was elected mayor and Florian Greier Vice Mayor.

Culture and sights

The parish church of St. Donatus, was built in the Gothic style after a fire in 1399, which also includes the village was destroyed in 1479 and 1767 in Baroque style. The inn Grünwalderhof on the road to Igls has already been mentioned in documents in 1500.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Patsch was already in pre-Roman times to a major traffic route. Evidence that even in the Middle Ages this traffic route was frequented mainly as salt route from Hall to the south, was found in 1994 in front of the now demolished old inn Altwirt for channel construction. A stone-paved road with deep ruts came during excavation work for days. The stones were north of Patsch elementary school moved again visible in the original manner. The station Patsch the Brenner railway was about 200 meters below the village in the gorge of the Sill. This was in the wake of the Brenner railway rehabilitation demolished in August 2012 after the abolition of monument protection. More important for the public transport infrastructure are inter-city buses that connect with Patsch Innsbruck.
